About the Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider
Pininfarina's Spider body first appeared on the smaller-engined Giulietta in 1955, and Alfa Romeo carried the shape forward onto the new 1.6-litre twin-cam Giulia running gear from 1962. The result kept the elegant, understated lines of the Giulietta Spider while gaining the more modern engine and chassis underpinning the Giulia saloon and coupé of the same era.
This generation sits between the better-known Giulietta Spider and the 1966 restyle that introduced the boat-tail rear end and the Duetto name — making Giulia-era cars a slightly rarer, transitional version of one of Alfa Romeo's most recognisable open two-seaters, and a genuine alternative to contemporary British and Italian roadsters of the period.
