About the Ferrari 308 GTB
The 308 GTB introduced a body shape that, more than any other single Ferrari, defined the marque's silhouette for a generation: low, wedge-profiled, with the transverse V8 visible under a glass engine cover. Early cars used a fibreglass body before Ferrari switched to steel from 1977, and the range was updated through carburettor, fuel-injected and, from 1982, four-valve-per-cylinder 'Quattrovalvole' versions.
It's the car that took Ferrari's V8 line from a secondary model behind the flagship V12s to a genuinely important part of the range — the direct ancestor of the 328, 348, 355 and every V8 Ferrari that followed. Combined with the cultural profile from television and film, the 308 GTB remains one of the most recognisable Ferrari shapes ever made.
