About the Maserati 3200 GT
Launched in 1998, the 3200 GT was Maserati's first genuinely new model developed under Ferrari's ownership and management (Ferrari took control of Maserati in 1997), signalling the start of the brand's modern revival. Giugiaro's Italdesign penned the body, and the twin-turbocharged 3.2-litre V8 gave strong performance in a genuinely elegant, understated 2+2 shape.
The rear light design — a boomerang-shaped cluster using LED technology unusual for the period — became one of the car's most talked-about details and a visual signature Maserati carried into the 3200 GT's successor, the naturally aspirated Coupé. As the car that kicked off Maserati's turnaround under Ferrari, the 3200 GT holds a specific place in the brand's modern history.
