About the Ferrari 456M GT
An evolution of the original 456 launched in 1992, the 456M ('Modificata') arrived in 1998 with revised bumpers, interior and cooling, while keeping the 5.5-litre V12 and the choice of a six-speed manual or Ferrari's automatic transmission. It sat as Ferrari's flagship four-seat GT of the era, above the smaller V8 range, aimed at owners who wanted V12 performance without giving up rear seats and touring range.
As one of the last Ferraris designed with pop-up headlights before the 550 Maranello moved the V12 GT formula to fixed lights and a two-seat body, the 456M has a distinct place in Ferrari's lineup: a genuinely usable, long-legged V12 grand tourer from just before the company's late-1990s design language shift.
