Overview
Alfa Romeo Montreal | 1971 | 39,000 km | 2.6 V8 with SPICA injection | ZF 5-speed | Red over black velvet
A handsome red example with black velvet seats and red carpets, running the DOHC 2.6-litre V8 with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and a ZF five-speed manual gearbox. The elegance of a GT with the performance of a sports car - one of the most coveted Alfas of its era.
Description
In late 1966 Alfa Romeo was chosen to create a conceptual exhibit expressing "the highest aspiration of man in the field of the automobile" for the 1967 International and Universal Exposition in Montreal, Canada. Marcello Gandini and the Bertone studio worked together on a genuinely memorable prototype, striking and futuristic in equal measure. The production version was finally shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970 and kept the show car's most daring gestures: the slatted front air intake, the side grilles and the distinctive eyelid covers over the headlights.
