Overview
Alfa Romeo SZ 3.0 V6 Zagato | 1993 | 27,000 km | 210 hp Busso V6 | Red | Limited, numbered run of about 1,000
A Portuguese-delivered SZ showing only 27,000 km. Built as a limited and individually numbered run of roughly 1,000 cars, it is powered by the celebrated Busso V6 - one of the most characterful engines Alfa Romeo ever made.
Description
The SZ was revealed on the Alfa Romeo stand at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show and was designed to startle: a low ride height, a high waistline and an unapologetic wedge profile that read as pure courage and speed. It was the result of the ambitious ES30 project - Experimental Sportscar 3.0 litres - an attempt by Alfa Romeo to reassert its tradition as a builder of rear-wheel-drive sports cars while using new technology and materials to do it. At the heart of the car sat the 3.0-litre "Busso" V6, named after its designer, first seen in the 75 3.0i Quadrifoglio Verde in 1987.
